Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

2012 - current

Rumors of a romance between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West began swirling online in the fall of 2010, as the two celebrities began being photographed having very public dinner dates in various cities across the country. And even though they both denied any romantic entanglement with the other, the gossip persisted – even incorrectly claiming Kardashian was carrying Kanye’s baby.

That same year, as Kim prepared to launch her singing career, Kanye lent a helping hand to the reality star in the form of a cameo in her yet-to-be-released debut music video, “Jam (Turn It Up).”

A year and a half, and one 72-day marriage to NBA player Chris Humphries later, Kardashian finally came out of the relationship closet, revealing that she and Kanye’s friendship had finally evolved into something more romantic. She went on to elaborate on that transition with Oprah, in an interview that aired June 24th, 2012, admitting that her friendship with Kanye went back at least 10 years and that he knew “everything” about her.

Just six months after going public as a couple, during a concert in Atlantic City on December 30th, 2012, Kanye announced that he and Kim were expecting their first child together. Kim confirmed the news the following day in a blog post, announcing, “It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo”

Later that spring, on April 19th, 2013, it was reported that Kim had finally reached a settlement in her divorce from Humphries – which had begun a year and a half beforehand on October 31st, 2011. The dispute was finalized when the judgment for the case was entered on June 3rd, 2013.

Just shy of two weeks later, on Saturday, June 15th, Kim delivered her first child, a girl, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Fans would have to wait until June 20th, though, to learn that the newborn’s name was North West.

Flash forward four months to Kim’s 33rd birthday, October 21st, 2013, Kanye proposed to Kim in front of her family and friends at AT&T Park in San Francisco – a moment that would later air on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

After seven long months of engagement, planning and their extravagant Parisian rehearsal dinner, Kim and Kanye were married in front of a reported 200 wedding guests, excluding an embarrassed Rob Kardashian, on May 24th, 2014 at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy.

Following a honeymoon tour of Ireland and Prague, it’s reported that, on August 5th, 2014, Kim officially changed her name from Kim Kardashian to Kim West – only to continue working professionally as either Kim Kardashian or Kim Kardashian West.

It wasn’t long before interested parties began questioning when North would become a big sister. Kim fanned those flames herself when she admitted, during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on September 9th, 2014, that her ideal number of children would be two. She went on to elaborate that she and Kanye went back and forth on the issue, saying that the number in their heads sometimes climbed up to as many as four.

More than three months later, on December 26th, 2014, an updated report claimed that Kim was upset at not being able to get pregnant for a second time. It was also revealed that the couple had been making frequent visits to fertility doctors in Beverly Hills throughout most of 2014.

Those trips seemingly paid off for the couple - as Kim's second pregnancy was revealed in a teaser clip for the 10th season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on May 31st, 2015.

A month later, on June 22nd, 2015, Kardashian kept the announcements coming, surprising her Instagram followers with the news that 2-year-old North would soon play big sister to a baby brother.

So far, though, mum is the word when it comes to Kim's impending due date.
