Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

2005 - current

Before becoming the supercouple known as Brangelina,  Brad and Angelina were just two normal, everyday Hollywood A-list megastars cast to play husband and wife in the blockbuster film Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

But during the 2004 movie shoot, on set romance rumors surfaced igniting allegations of a cheating scandal – remember, Brad was married at the time to Jennifer Aniston. Speculation further intensified when Brad and Jen announced their separation after nearly five years of marriage in January 2005.

Two months later, Aniston officially filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Within weeks, Brad and Angelina were spotted walking on a beach in Kenya thereby pushing the dating buzz into overdrive.

On June 10, 2005, Mr. & Mrs. Smith was released and went on to earn over $475 million worldwide at the box office.

While still not officially confirming their new relationship status, Brad and Angelina continued to promote the film by posing as a happily married couple – with several child models portraying their fictional children - in a W magazine photo spread entitled “Domestic Bliss.”

In July 2005, Brad accompanied Angelina on a trip to Kenya where she officially adopted daughter Zahara.  The Oscar winning actress had previously adopted her first child, Maddox, from Cambodia in 2002, following her split from ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton.

A Hollywood fairytale officially came to an end as Brad and Jennifer’s divorce was finalized in October 2005.

On January 11, 2006, after months of rumors and tabloid reports, Angelina finally acknowledged her relationship with Brad by revealing she was pregnant with his baby. The media christens the dynamic duo “Brangelina.”

One week later, the couple filed to have her children’s names legally changed from Jolie to Jolie-Pitt as Brad officially adopts Maddox and Zahara.

With the world on high alert, their first biological child, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, was born on May 27, 2006 in Namibia.

Ten months later, they adopted three-year-old son Pax Thien from Vietnam in March 2007.

With reports speculating on her expanding waistline, Angelina hit up the 2008 Cannes Film Festival to promote Kung Fu Panda and announced she and Brad were expecting twins.

Just eight weeks later on July 12, she gave birth to her wonder twins: son, Knox Leon and daughter, Vivienne Marcheline.

During an interview with the New York Times later that year, Angelina admitted she “fell in love” with Brad while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Up until then, the couple had always maintained that despite strong chemistry, they never cheated and only got together once he and Jennifer had separated.

After seven years together, Brad and Angelina announced their engagement in April 2012, with his rep adding: “It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.”

Over two years later, on August 23, 2014, Brangelina officially made it legal by tying the knot in a small private ceremony at their French chateau surrounded by their six bundles of joy.
